When It’s Overwhelming (poem)

When is it not overwhelming.
When is there not too much to do, see, meet, fear, think.
When do we not ignore 99.9% of what there is,
Of what life is,
To feel calm and reassured,
To believe we are on top of it,
That 0.1%.

When it’s overwhelming,
When we temporarily lose our grip
And see, and face a bit of how much there is,
Being right and wrong in the same breath,
Happy and sad in the same thought,
Growing and dying in the same instant,
What then.
What do we do then.

Maybe we meditate on it,
Open our minds to the swirl and get lost.
Maybe we grab a piece of it
Try to do something
Leave the rest for the rest.
Maybe we glimpse all that
Only for a second.
Maybe it doesn’t really sink in.
I don’t know.
